OPEN TRACK TECH INSPECTION MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

OPEN CARS - All open cars or convertibles must have roll bars. No exceptions. All convertibles must run with tops down. Hardtops are acceptable in place of roll bars. Cars with t-tops must run with tops installed.

HELMET - You will need a minimum rating of Snell SA 2000 or above. No exceptions. Helmet must be free of damage and fit properly. Straps must be strong and flexible. We will NOT have extra helmets to loan out.

DRIVING SUITS - All drivers must wear long pants and a shirt with sleeves. Nomex driving suits are recommended but not required.

SEATBELTS - "DOT” approved or competition seatbelts are required. Belts must be in good condition with no cuts or frays and mounted securely. Shoulder harnesses are recommended.

MIRRORS - Each car must have at least one rear-view mirror. Two are recommended.

INTERIOR - Seats must be mounted securely. All loose objects must be removed. No loose wires under the dash. A fire extinguisher is recommended; Halon is preferred. Fire extinguisher bracket must be metal, not plastic. All video cameras must be securely mounted inside of car.

BATTERY- Must be securely mounted; terminals tight and in good condition. Terminals must be covered and/or taped.

TRUNK - All loose items must be removed including jack, spare tire, lug wrench, etc.

TIRES - Should have at least half of the original tread (unless they are racing tires); side walls should be in good condition (free of cuts, cracks or deep scratches). Check tread for foreign objects (nails, screws, glass, etc.). Tires should be the proper size for the rim width and must clear suspension and fender edges without rubbing. Rated tires must carry a minimum "S" rating (112 MPH). Unrated tires must be in good condition.

WHEELS - On tight with all lugs in place. Wheels will be checked for cracks. Hubcaps or trim rings must be removed.  It is highly recommended you check you wheel nuts torque before entering the track every time you enter the track.  You will be surprised how loose wheels can get.

BRAKES - You should have your brakes or inspect your brakes before coming to Putnam Park.  It is advisable to at least bleed them.  Ford Heavy Duty brake fluid works very well if you are looking for something.  New pads and rotors or almost new pads rotors is a good thing.  If all possible bring an extra set of pads and rotors.  If you put on new brakes, bring your old stuff, if you drive up you might need them to get home safely.

BRAKE LIGHTS - Must be operational and will be checked.

FLUID LEAKS - None allowed. Cars will be checked while running: includes oil, coolant, brake and fuel lines. If no coolant overflow system, you'll need a catch can.  Bring extra coolant and oil if can.  It is a good idea to check you fluid levels before each time you enter the track.  This is cheap insurance.

STEERING - Steering should not have excessive play.

GLASS - Window glass must not be cracked or broken.

EXHAUST SYSTEM - Entire system should be in good condition and held on securely. Mufflers will not be required for this event, but your pre-muffler system will be inspected. Straight pipes will be permitted.

RADIATOR OVERFLOW CATCH CAN - Must have if your car does not have a coolant overflow system. Catch can must be securely mounted (permanent mounting not required).  Minimum of 1 quart capacity.

THROTTLE RETURN SPRING - Must be working good working condition.  Two is preferred on carbureted car.
